…Where stories unfold.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Here I will share my thoughts about the wonderful life God has given to me. You can learn more about me, my family and my passions. Grab a Dr. Pepper or a cup of hot tea, get comfy, and visit awhile. I'm glad you stopped by!

About Me

Welcome! I am a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, living with my husband, Tom, on a quiet piece of land just outside Opelika, Alabama. Our acreage lets me indulge my love of animals. We enjoy a small herd of Fainting Goats with diverse personalities, and a few chickens for fresh eggs, but the real heart of our home belongs to our 'kids': Aragorn, our chocolate Lab; Numa, our 130-pound 'house horse', rescued Great Dane; and Pogi, a 20 lb. “labracat” who thinks he’s a dog.

Family is at the center of our lives. My 90-year-old mother lives in a cottage across the driveway and joins us for dinner most evenings. I love to cook (though the clean up not so much!) and explore new dishes as well as old favorites; some I learned from her! Nearby, our son and his wife—who has become a good friend—keep us busy with our five grandchildren. Whether we are cheering them on at activities, watching Auburn football in the family room, or simply hanging out, they are a true joy.

I created this site to share the gift of writing that God has placed on my heart. Whether the stories revolve around animals and insights gleaned from my work as a professional dog trainer or reflections on scripture, my hope is that the stories you find here will encourage you, challenge your perspective, or simply give you a moment of reflection. Welcome to my world—I’m so glad you’re here!

Katlyn Ferguson has spent years surviving the unthinkable— culminating with a tragic accident that claimed her parents’ lives, shattered her spirit, and left her afraid to leave her home. A final gift from her father, a Labrador Retriever, is the impetus that encourages her to start engaging with life again. As she settles in and begins to explore the possibility of love, danger resurfaces in a deadly new game. When a chilling letter arrives quoting the old wives' tale about cats having nine lives, it includes a tally of the lives she’s lost. Kat realizes that most of her past tragedies were not accidents, but calculated attempts to destroy her.  As the shadows of her past converge, Kat discovers that, while she may not have nine lives, the fortitude she’s forged through her renewed faith in God and the bond she shares with her dog might be exactly what she needs to survive.

This gripping tale explores themes of resilience, faith, and the healing power of the bond between humans and animals.
